Take Me Downtown

You know what we didn’t fully appreciate before having Carson?  Being able to sit down at a restaurant, eat slowly and not have to feed another person!  Luckily, Summer had a birthday this month, we all had an excuse to get together and leave the babies at home!

We started off the night at Blue Sip Winery in the Old City.  I had no idea that there was a winery downtown!  When we all get together, Nick and I and Amy and Nathan are usually the last ones to show up.  When we were the first ones there, I decided that Mike had told us an earlier time to arrive so we wouldn’t be late!

After some wine tasting, we headed over to Crown and Goose for dinner.  Nick and I made several remarks about how empty the Old City was and then we realized, it was only 8 p.m. and all the young kids were still at home getting ready to go out!

Crown and Goose is an English pub and almost everyone tried dishes like “fish and chips” or “bangers and mash.”  Kayla and I were such Americans and ordered a hamburger and steak.  Perhaps I wouldn’t fare so well in England after all!

After dinner, we walked over to Hanna’s and did some dancing.  Now, I know we aren’t 21 anymore, but there was a group of about six men that walked in with us that had to be between 50-60.  I’m pretty sure you aren’t allowed to go to college bars when you reach that age.  The place was pretty empty since 1) it was only 11 p.m. and 2) most UT students are home for the summer.  So we got to take over the dance floor and jam to some 80’s and 90’s music.

We had such a fun time with our friends and stayed out past midnight.  You really know what tells you that you aren’t 21 anymore?  When staying out until 1 a.m. causes you to need a nap the next morning by 10 a.m.
